CALLING RUN PLAYS.

Numbering.

  • Typically, the RB is given a number (2,3, or 4).
  • The RBs number is then called in sequence with the hole they need to run through.
  • The first number in the play-calling sequence is the RBs number.
  • The second number in the play-calling sequence is the Hole number.

EXAMPLE: If the RBs number is 2 and the play needs to go through the 3-hole… that would be called “23“.

*Typically, run calls to the 7 or 8 holes utilize a Swing Pass pattern. However, unlike a Swing Pass, the QB will toss or pitch the ball out to the RB.

If your number is “2”:

  • 21 = The 2-back runs through the 1-hole.
  • 22 = The 2-back runs through the 2-hole.
  • 23 = The 2-back runs through the 3-hole.
  • 24 = The 2-back runs through the 4-hole.
  • 25 = The 2-back runs through the 5-hole.
  • 26 = The 2-back runs through the 6-hole.
  • 27 = The 2-back runs through the 7-hole. 27 Toss or 27 Pitch.
  • 28 = The 2-back runs through the 8-hole. 28 Toss or 28 Pitch.

If your number is “3”:

  • 31 = The 3-back runs through the 1-hole.
  • 32 = The 3-back runs through the 2-hole.
  • 33 = The 3-back runs through the 3-hole.
  • 34 = The 3-back runs through the 4-hole.
  • 35 = The 3-back runs through the 5-hole.
  • 36 = The 3-back runs through the 6-hole.
  • 37 = The 3-back runs through the 7-hole. 37 Toss or 37 Pitch.
  • 38 = The 3-back runs through the 8-hole. 38 Toss or 38 Pitch.

If your number is “4”:

  • 41 = The 4-back runs through the 1-hole.
  • 42 = The 4-back runs through the 2-hole.
  • 43 = The 4-back runs through the 3-hole.
  • 44 = The 4-back runs through the 4-hole.
  • 45 = The 4-back runs through the 5-hole.
  • 46 = The 4-back runs through the 6-hole.
  • 47 = The 4-back runs through the 7-hole. 47 Toss or 47 Pitch.
  • 48 = The 4-back runs through the 8-hole. 48 Toss or 48 Pitch.
