ANGLE BREAKING.
Angle Breaking is the process of navigating pressure in the pocket. With it, QBs can gain the confidence they need to excel on the field.
UNDERSTANDING PRESSURE.
Pressure comes in 5 forms. It’s either Inside Left, Inside Right, Outside Left, Outside Right, or On. The trick to dealing with pressure is reading and reacting to it accordingly. To do this, a QB must develop the Real-Time Visual Processing (RTVP) required to read and break their opponents’ angle.
1. INSIDE PRESSURE.

Inside Left:
Spin or Escape Left, and Step Up.
Inside Right:
Spin or Escape Right, and Step Up.
2. OUTSIDE PRESSURE.

Outside Left:
Step Up and Shift Left.
Outside Right:
Step Up Shift Right.
3. PRESSURE ON.

Bait Left:
Bait the defender to the left to create an inside or outside angle. Break accordingly.
Bait Right:
Bait the defender to the right to create an inside or outside angle. Break accordingly.
*The decision to bait a defender left or right is based on reading the entire pocket and determining which area of the pocket, after you break, will provide the least pressure.
